He wanted to make a difference. And for years, that's exactly what he did. But then it started:  his powers weren't quite as super anymore. A new breed of heroes, full of power and life, had taken over protecting Century City and Night Train was no longer needed, no longer super. Instead of simply wallowing in his self pity, he joins a super hero support group for heroes who are losing their powers and  also feel like they're losing their identities.
